The Town Council has received a prestigious award as part of the National Local Council Award Scheme. This achievement recognises that the council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement, moreover the Town Council is continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop even further.
The Local Council Award Scheme is a peer assessed programme which encourages the sector to work together to share best practice, drive up standards and support those who are committed to improving their offer to their communities. The Award Scheme report highlighted the council’s particular areas of strength, including its high standard of administration and the excellent provision of relevant information via social media platforms.
Town Mayor, Councillor Lorna Cross was delighted to receive the Award Scheme Certificate as it provided the residents and tax payers with the assurance that the Town Council is up-to-date and progressive by the standards set by the sector. It also acknowledged that, whilst the difficult decisions sometimes made by the Town Council were not always popular, the Town Council was successfully delivering to a national professional standard.
