Temporary Road Closure – A226 Galley Hill RoadSwanscombe24th May 2023 for 18 months

Due to the likely danger to the public following damage to the road surface caused by a landslip, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic and pedestrian access on part of A226 Galley Hill Road, Swanscombe under Section14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Order will come into force on 24th May 2023 when the Emergency Temporary Traffic Regulation Order expires, with an estimated duration of up to 18 months.

A226 Galley Hill Road will be closed from junction B259 High Street, Swanscombe to junction Snowden Hill, Northfleet.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A226 London Road, Swanscombe, B255 St Clements Way, B255 Bean Road, A296 Watling Street, A2260 Southfleet Road, A2660 Ebbsfleet Gateway, A226 Thames Way, A226 Stonebridge Road, A226 Galley Hill Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for pedestrians is via B259 High Street, Swanscombe, B259 Stanhope Road, Swanscombe, Cycle Track from Thames Way to Stanhope Road, Swanscombe, A226 Thames Way, Gravesend, A226 Stonebridge Road, Gravesend, A226 Galley Hill Road, Swanscombe and vice versa.

TEMPORARY 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT LIMIT EXCEPT FOR ACCESS – Various Roads, Swanscombe 3rd July 2023 for 36 months

For the safety of the public and workforce during roadworks, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory weight limit of 7.5 tonne, (except for access) on a section of Various Roads in Swanscombe.

The 7.5 tonne weight restriction, (except for access), applies in both directions on the roads as per the Schedule below;

• A226 London Road, Swanscombe – From the junction of Manor Way through to the B259 High Street, Swanscombe for a distance of 630 metres and vice versa.

• B259 High Street, Swanscombe – From the junction of the A226 London Road, Swanscombe through to the B259 Stanhope Road for a distance of 360 metres and vice versa.

• B259 Stanhope Road, Swanscombe – From the junction of the B259 High Street, Swanscombe through to Swanscombe Street for a distance of 570 metres and vice versa.

• Craylands Lane, Swanscombe – From the junction of the A226 London Road, Swanscombe through to the junction of Craylands Square for a distance of 210 metres and vice versa.

The restrictions take effect on 3rd July 2023 for up to 36 months and will be lifted as soon as it is safe to do so.

The restrictions have been introduced for the safety of the public whilst the A226 Galley Hill Road, Swanscombe is closed.

Due to works planned to be undertaken by SGN, It will be necessary to close part of Knockhall Road, Greenhithe from 17 November 2023

with estimated completion by 22 December 2023

Knockhall Road, Greenhithe will be closed between the junctions of Lane Avenue and Knockhall Chase.

To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Knockhall Road, Mounts Road, A226 London Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while allowing gas works to be carried out, works are undertaken by SGN.

Thames Water – Urgent Road Closure – High Street, Greenhithe – 7 September 2023 

It will be necessary to close High Street, Greenhithe from 7-September 2023 for up to 6 days.

The road will be closed Outside 19 High Street.

The alternative route is via The Avenue, London Road, A206, Continue to Station Road, Continue onto High Street and Reversed.

This is to enable repair works to be carried out by Thames Water.

Knockhall Chase will be closed between the junctions of Eynsford Road and Park Terrace, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Knockhall Road, Mounts Road, A226 London Road and vice versa.

Eynsford Road will be closed at the junction with Knockhall Chase, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Knockhall Chase, Knockhall Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Eynsford Road, Knockhall Road, Alexander Road and vice versa.

Alexander Road will be closed between the junctions with Abbey Road and Knockhall Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route.
